Bishop Leon Benjamin and his guest Tina Blanco of the Satellite Phone Store have urged Americans to be ready and be prepared for any kind of emergency situation during a recent episode of “B-Alert News” on Brighteon.TV.
“Preparation time is not lost time,” the pastor and founder of New Life Harvest Church in Virginia began his show, adding that everyone must be ready for about anything. According to him, the enemy is on attack mode and targeting various aspects of American culture and society.
Benjamin turned to his guest, asking her about the outage that affected AT&T subscribers – which was possibly caused by hackers. Blanco then shared that she was one of the millions of Americans who woke up in the morning to find out their phone wasn’t working. But thankfully, she had her satellite phone (sat-phone) that she used to call her employees.
Given this, she emphasized to Benjamin that attackers ideally target communication systems and doing so can do a lot more damage. “Satellite phones are very crucial to have, as far as your communication [is concerned,” she said. “If you’re a prepper, you need to have a satellite phone or bivy stick.”
Blanco explained that the bivy stick can turn a smartphone into a satellite communicator when cellular communication services go down. The bivy stick works on the Iridium satellite network, which uses all of its 66 satellites from anywhere on the planet. Such a service cannot be interrupted, she explained, because satellites can’t be taken down easily compared to cell towers.
According to Blanco, a sat-phone acts like a cell tower and connects directly to a satellite. Because of this, it can be used to text and send voice mails to people on the contacts list even when the power grid goes down.
“It is really popular with people that have boats or people that go hiking, camping [or] hunting,” she told Benjamin. “But right now, it’s also popular [among] preppers.”
Aside from being able to work anywhere on Earth, Blanco said a sat-phone offers secure communication between people. The only entities listening to call or reading a text in a sat-phone is the sender and the recipient. She added that both the U.S. military and the U.S. government use sat-phones on the Iridium network, the most secure one in existence. (Related: U.S. senators provided with satellite phones as threats of internal strife and potential political violence rise.)
Blanco – founder and CEO of the Satellite Phone Store – noted that unless someone figures out how to take down all the Iridium or Inmarsat satellites, sat-phones are still reliable means of communication. She added that even in cases of natural disasters like hurricanes, winter freeze or fires, sat-phones are important ways to stay updated.
Moreover, she also stressed the importance of doing a communication drill aside from preparing the necessary gear in case emergencies happen. She ultimately remarked that people need to be prepared because God has given every person the wisdom to prepare from themselves and their families.
“We need to have a backup plan because you never know,” Blanco told the “B-Alert News” host. “We are seeing the End Times that the Bible talks about and being prepared is the best thing not just for yourself, but also for your family.”
Benjamin agreed with his guest, noting that American families must be prepared – especially when an emergency situation happens regularly. He added that it won’t be a test and things can happen without them knowing it.
